Colorado School of Mines – Brown Hall Addition
Scope:
Specialized engineering laboratories and a regional 2,000 ton chiller plant were part of the Brown Hall addition and renovation at Colorado School of Mines. Specialized spaces included energy conversion, thermal science, bioengineering, robotics, mineral processing, and blast chamber laboratories, along with a machine shop. The project also included a regional 2,000 ton chiller plant planned to serve future campus chilled water expansion. The construction value listed for the project was $25.2 million. For lecture rooms, teaching spaces, faculty offices, and shared student areas, the design considered ventilation and temperature control, power and lighting, and the utility connections needed for daily use. Layouts accounted for the different demands of occupied rooms, equipment areas, and support functions.
