Parkland Hospital Main Data Center

Scope:
Parkland Hospital’s main data center supports the clinical and business systems of the Dallas hospital system, so its power and cooling were designed around continuous operation. The design used A and B power distribution so that each rack was fed from two independent paths, and a 2(N+1) redundancy approach for critical power and cooling equipment so that maintenance or a failure would not interrupt service. Uninterruptible power combined flywheel and battery UPS systems to carry the load through utility disturbances until generators assumed it. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, and security engineering for the facility. Cooling design addressed equipment heat loads and airflow around server racks, fire protection and detection protected the equipment areas, and security and access control systems protected the white-finished data hall and support spaces.
