Scope:
Terrell State Hospital’s replacement campus is planned for 250 beds across maximum security, forensic, adolescent, and civil care programs. The Terrell State Hospital replacement campus is a 415,000 square foot, $573 million project for Texas Health and Human Services. The planned 250 bed facility includes 50 maximum security beds, 140 forensic beds, a 35 bed adolescent unit, and 25 civil beds. The program provides separate patient care areas for the hospital’s psychiatric treatment populations. For patient living areas, treatment and counseling rooms, staff stations, and support spaces, the design considers ventilation and temperature control, power and lighting, and the utility connections needed for daily use. Layouts account for the different demands of occupied rooms, equipment areas, and support functions.
