Scope:
Keller Pointe Recreation Center Addition brought public gathering spaces and their support functions into the engineering work. Our team designed a 3,500 square feet workout space addition to the Keller Pointe recreation center, which included indoor and outdoor water parks, a gymnasium, locker rooms, and fitness areas. The addition included new HVAC via heat pump fan coils, lighting, power feeders and a transformer, and fire alarm, security, and telecom conduit infrastructure. Our team also solved a persistent corrosion problem in the facility’s pool chemical acid storage room: the original ventilation pulled exhaust near the ceiling, but wet chlorine gas is heavier than air and had corroded metal trim, ductwork, and even the concrete floor. Our team redesigned the exhaust in solid Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic (FRP) ductwork and fan, with the inlet set low to prevent fume buildup. The project value was $1,500,000.
