Scope:
Laboratory work at CDPHE All Hazards Triage & Response Lab required close attention to utilities, environmental conditions, and equipment layouts. Our team supported the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment’s All Hazards Triage and Response Laboratory. The approximately 5,056 gross square foot, $3 million facility provided hazardous material and chemical, biological, and radiological triage. The BSL 3 program included chemistry and microbiology labs, decontamination, controlled access, chain of custody functions, HEPA exhaust, negative pressure control, and emergency power. For laboratories, equipment rooms, preparation areas, and research support spaces, the design considered ventilation and temperature control, power and lighting, and the utility connections needed for daily use. Layouts accounted for the different demands of occupied rooms, equipment areas, and support functions.
