Southwest Airlines Operations Facility – Austin-Bergstrom International Airport
Representative Image
Scope:
At Austin-Bergstrom International Airport, Southwest Airlines converted existing ramp space into an operations facility built around fast aircraft turns. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, and security engineering for the conversion in Austin, Texas. The new space included a ramp control and communications room, operations offices, crew areas, and equipment support spaces. Mechanical design addressed Central Texas cooling loads for continuously occupied operations rooms, with added ventilation for areas near active ramp traffic. Electrical design provided backup power for communications and ramp control equipment, along with lighting suited to round-the-clock work. Fire protection modifications extended sprinklers into the converted areas, and technology and security design included data and radio infrastructure, access control, and video surveillance.
