Scope:
Located in the heart of Cedar Hill’s Midtown District, the 40,000 square foot Traphene Hickman Library is four times the size of the city’s former public library. The facility combines a public library, a flexible event venue, and a rotating museum exhibition space developed in partnership with the Cedar Hill Museum of History. Program elements included hands-on makerspaces, a digital media lab, dedicated areas for children and teens, community meeting rooms, and a social cafe with outdoor seating. Envisioned as a Library within a Park, the design drew inspiration from nearby Cedar Hill State Park and Bentle Branch Creek, with glazed walls, shaded terraces, and pathways connecting indoor and outdoor spaces. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, technology, and security engineering for the City of Cedar Hill. The project was completed in 2024 and achieved LEED Silver certification.
