Scope:
The Baylor University Medical Center morgue project created a Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) space within the hospital’s morgue facilities, where specialized containment is needed when handling potentially infectious remains. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering for the roughly 3,000 square foot facility. Because it is a BSL-3 environment, the design emphasized directional airflow and pressure relationships, controlled ventilation and exhaust, and dependable power and lighting, along with plumbing and fire protection suited to clinical use and applicable healthcare requirements.
