Scope:

Rusk State Hospital’s replacement began with demolition and utility rerouting before construction of a new psychiatric hospital. Our team provided mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, IT, and construction administration services for the Rusk State Hospital replacement project. The $202 million, approximately 200,000 square foot program included demolition of four existing buildings and construction of a maximum security psychiatric hospital with approximately 180 patient beds. Spaces considered in the design included patient living areas, treatment and counseling rooms, staff stations, and support spaces. For mechanical systems, we considered ventilation and thermal comfort with equipment and controls coordinated for patient safety. The electrical approach accounted for lighting, equipment power, and electrical devices suited to the care environment. Our water and drainage planning considered fixture selection and water and waste systems coordinated with patient safety needs.
